- We use it to respond to you, process your gift, send receipts, and share updates about DESAMY's work.
- We never sell, rent, or trade your information.
- Donations are processed by Donorbox. DESAMY never sees or stores your full card or bank details.
Develop Empower Smart And Mighty Youths, Inc. ("DESAMY," "we," "us") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in South Carolina. This policy explains what information we collect through desamy.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us.
- Contact form: your name, email address, the topic you select, and your message.
- Donations: when you give through our Donorbox form, Donorbox collects the details needed to process your gift, such as your name, email, billing address, and payment information. DESAMY receives your name, email, address, gift amount, and any note you include. We do not receive your full card or bank account number.
- Email: anything you send to info@desamy.org.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view. This is used to keep the site running and secure. DESAMY does not use this information to identify individual visitors.
How we use your information
- To respond to your questions and requests
- To process donations and send tax receipts
- To connect sponsors with information about the students they support
- To send occasional updates about our programs. You can opt out at any time.
- To keep accurate records as required by law for a nonprofit organization
- To protect the website from spam, abuse, and security threats
How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in these limited cases:
- Service providers that help us run the website and accept donations, who may use it only to provide their services to us:
- Netlify hosts this website and stores contact form submissions.
- Donorbox and its payment processors handle online donations. Their use of your information is covered by their own privacy policies.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on this site. When your browser loads them, Google may receive your IP address.
- Legal requirements: when required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights and safety of DESAMY, our supporters, or the children we serve.
Cookies
DESAMY does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The Donorbox donation form may use cookies needed to process your gift securely. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though the donation form may not work correctly without them.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through this site, contact us and we will delete it.
Information about students in our programs is shared to support their sponsorship and education, and we limit what is shown publicly to protect their safety.
How we protect your information
This site is served over a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS). Online payments are handled by Donorbox and its payment processors, not stored by DESAMY. We limit access to supporter information to the people who need it to do their work. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
How long we keep information
We keep donation records for as long as needed to meet tax and legal recordkeeping requirements. We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to respond and maintain our records, then delete them.
Your choices
- Stop receiving emails: use the unsubscribe link in any update, or email us.
- See, correct, or delete your information: email us and we will respond within a reasonable time. Some donation records must be kept to meet legal requirements.

Our site links to other websites, such as Donorbox and UNICEF. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please review their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
